Secure & Seamless Ecommerce for Malaysia's Fintech Leader

Touch 'n Go is Malaysia's leading fintech and mobility payments brand, best known for its RFID tolling system and eWallet used by millions of Malaysians daily. Touch 'n Go's physical products, RFID cards, Charms, and merchandise, had long been available through third-party resellers, but the brand had no direct-to-consumer Ecommerce channel of its own. Sweetmag built Touch 'n Go Shop as the brand's first owned Ecommerce platform.

  • Engineered a Finance Consolidation Reporting module for Bank Negara-grade accuracy, built without an existing reporting template to scope from
  • Expanded the platform a year post-launch to support a new B2B card customisation offering

Challenge

Reseller distribution meant Touch 'n Go's products were reaching customers, but the brand had no direct line to them. Every purchase through a third party was a missed opportunity to own that customer relationship, from first sale through to repeat purchases, product launches, and brand loyalty. As a company governed by Bank Negara Malaysia, Touch 'n Go also needed any owned sales channel to meet a high bar for financial traceability, every transaction had to be reportable and reconcilable, not just processed.

Goal

Launch Touch 'n Go's own branded Ecommerce platform to sell RFID cards, Charms, and limited-edition merchandise directly to consumers, reclaiming the customer relationship from resellers, while meeting Bank Negara-grade financial reporting standards and leaving room to expand into new product lines later.

Solution

Sweetmag built Touch 'n Go Shop as a standalone, brand-owned platform, launching first with the brand's consumer product line before expanding into a business offering roughly a year later.

Owning the Direct Relationship

Touch 'n Go Shop gave the brand its first direct-to-consumer storefront, selling RFID cards, NFC-enabled Charms, and limited-edition collaborations straight to customers instead of through resellers. This put Touch 'n Go in control of its own product launches, customer data, and repeat purchase relationships for the first time.

Finance Consolidation Reporting Module

This was the most demanding part of the build. There was no existing report format or reference point to scope against, Sweetmag had to work through what Bank Negara-grade financial reporting actually needed to look like from first principles, then build a module that ensures accurate daily order synchronization across every transaction.

Expansion into Business Products

About a year after launch, Touch 'n Go Shop expanded beyond B2C with a new Business offering, letting companies order customised Touch 'n Go cards branded with their own company details.
