Sweetmag built BE International's Magento platform around two distinct member types, IBO and PC, each purchasing under different terms and business logic, with storeviews configured per language across all five markets.
Built for Month-End Traffic Surges
MLM businesses see a predictable but intense spike in activity around month-end closing, as IBOs rush to hit sales and bonus volume targets before cutoff. Sweetmag engineered the Magento platform to withstand this surge without buckling under load, ensuring checkout, e-wallet transactions, and order processing stayed reliable during the exact window when performance failures would be most costly to BE International's distributor network.
Two Member Types, One Platform
Rather than a dual storefront setup, Sweetmag built the platform to serve two distinct paid membership types within Magento, IBOs and PCs, each with their own theme, dashboard, and purchasing logic reflecting how that membership actually works, while storeviews were configured per language to properly serve all five markets.
Purchase on Behalf: Solving for MLM-Specific Attribution
Sweetmag built a Purchase on Behalf feature letting an upline log in and buy directly for their downline, a genuinely unusual order flow for standard Ecommerce, since the sale needed to be correctly attributed to the downline's account and targets, not the person actually making the purchase. This required rethinking how order attribution works at a fundamental level, something most Ecommerce platforms simply aren't built to handle.
Payment Gateway Diversity with Custom Routing Logic
Sweetmag integrated more than eight different payment gateways into the platform, roughly four times the number typically involved in a Sweetmag Ecommerce build, to meet BE International's finance requirements. On top of that scale, credit card payment options are routed using custom logic based on finance-defined ratios, rather than the standard approach of letting customers freely choose their preferred gateway, a deliberate deviation from typical Ecommerce checkout design to serve BE International's specific financial operations.
Privilege Promotions for Downline Rewards
Sweetmag built a Privilege Promotions feature that gives IBOs a way to reward their own downlines directly, extending typical Ecommerce promotional tools into something that supports the relationship-driven, network-based structure of an MLM business rather than a flat customer base.
Variant-Level Inventory and Backorder Control
Sweetmag developed variant-level inventory and backorder customisation, control at a granularity that isn't native to most Ecommerce platforms out of the box, giving BE International precise control over stock and backorder behaviour down to individual product variants rather than only at the product level.
IBO-Only E-Wallet and Business Tools
A core piece of the build was a dedicated e-wallet exclusively for IBOs, supporting top-ups, withdrawals, bonus crediting, and secure in-platform purchases, alongside tools that reflect how BE International's distributor network actually operates day to day.
Deep Integration with BE International's Core Systems
Sweetmag integrated the new platform with BE International's existing distributor and business systems, keeping product data, member records, and transactions properly synchronised as the platform evolved through ongoing enhancements post-launch.
Ongoing Managed Services
Since go-live, Sweetmag has continued supporting BE International as their managed services partner, keeping a high-transaction, multi-market platform stable and performant as the business continues to grow.
