Challenge

Following Tesla's lead, most global EV brands are racing to digitalise the car-buying journey, giving customers a direct, self-service relationship with the brand rather than a purely dealership-mediated one. BYD's existing website wasn't built with that direction in mind, and needed a proper foundation to support where the brand was heading: a more seamless customer journey, a real customer portal rather than just informational pages, and tighter integration across the platforms BYD already relied on, rather than a scattered ecosystem of disconnected tools.

Goal

Rebuild BYD's corporate website on a modern tech stack capable of supporting a genuine customer portal, integrated with Salesforce for customer and vehicle data, streamlining BYD's platform ecosystem, and laying the groundwork for future phases including a customer-facing 360 mobile app and, eventually, Ecommerce capability.

Solution

Sweetmag rebuilt BYD's corporate website from the ground up on Nuxt.js and Strapi CMS, with system integration into Salesforce and a UI/UX built around a smoother customer journey.

A Modern Foundation

Sweetmag replatformed BYD's website - moving away from a setup that couldn't easily support the customer portal and future functionality BYD had in mind, and giving the brand's marketing team a properly flexible content management system going forward.

Customer Portal Integrated with Salesforce

Sweetmag built a customer portal giving BYD's customers direct access to their own dashboard and account functions, secured through BYD's single sign-on, with vehicle and customer data integrated directly from Salesforce, BYD's CRM system of record. This gave customers self-service access to their own information rather than needing to go through a dealership for basic account matters.

Built for What's Next: 360 App and Future Ecommerce

The platform was deliberately built to integrate with BYD's 360 mobile app, developed alongside this project, and structured to support an Ecommerce cart on Magento in a future phase, positioning BYD's digital ecosystem to grow toward the same kind of direct, online car-buying journey that Tesla pioneered and brands like XPENG have since followed in markets like Hong Kong.
